Sunday 5th January - walk *** - Hemley circuit – cloudy.

We were keen to do something today despite the dark clouds threatening rain, Mag had already been out on her bike this morning so we decided to drive to Hemley Church and do the short Deben circuit. As we put on our boots a large group of walkers passed on the way to the Maybush we guessed then set off down to the river where we bumped into a lovely young walker who Mag had seen on the prom earlier. We stopped for a chat and he is walking the Suffolk coastal path but couldn’t get across the Deben at Felixstowe as the ferry was not running:( The path was muddy so it was slow going, we made a short detour down to the rivers edge and saw a few ducks and waders. At Kirton Creek you turn away from the river along hedgerows sadly devoid of birds! Still a pleasant hour out in the fresh air:)
